It's been about 100 days since our last post and we are officially 100 days away from the first day of enrollment in the Affordable Care Act's health insurance marketplaces. While I have been away becoming a licensed property and casulaty agent (thank you, tahnk you very much), the ACA train has been moving forward. Covered California is California's insurance marketplace and their website is up for exploration. Any questions you may have about enrollment can be answered there. In fact, you can check out their fact sheet here. Covered California will open later this year, and continue enrollment until March 31, 2014.You must purchase health insurance during this open-enrollment period to obtain coverage in 2014. If you already have insurance, then you are covered (pun intended) and don't need to worry. Even so, as a small business owner, you probably are wondering some of the following: how exactly will this work? How does this apply to me? How will this affect me?
